My First Project
Last week, I completed my first client project - organizing an office. Walking out of the house knowing that my client was happy and excited about the work we had done was such a great feeling. The change from what it was before to what we had made it was drastic. Before I began working with her, she couldn’t walk all the way around her desk. She liked parts of the system she had but felt a bit disorganized and cluttered. After we were done, the room looked clean, organized, and bigger, with space for her to move about.

As I have started this business, I’ve realized that part of the job is just asking my clients simple questions. One question I ask is “What do you see in your space that you don’t like or stresses you out?” Sometimes, clients know they don’t like something but they don’t know how to fix it. That is why I am here. Once I know what bothers the client, I can suggest solutions and provide ways to resolve the issue.

Another question I ask is “Why are you keeping this?” In this particular office, my client had a side table covered in notebooks, sticky notes, pens, and papers. Underneath the table was a bin full of gift wrapping materials. This surface was not her desk but rather another table that prevented her from moving freely about the room. When I first walked in, she told me that even though it was crowded, she was fine with it the way it was. However, from an outside perspective, I could immediately see the benefit of removing the table. In our own lives we become accustomed to the things we have and feel like we can’t get rid of something. But what my client realized is that having someone there who could ask her those questions helped her to see the unnecessary items in the room. After we cleaned out the materials on the table, I successfully found a place for the remaining items, including moving the wrapping materials to the cabinet where she also kept her gifts. That way, when she needs to give a gift, all she has to do is go to the cabinet, pull out the gift, move a couple drawers down and grab the wrapping material. Organizing is all about making life more efficient. Being able to keep like items together is a crucial aspect of efficiency.

After completing this project, I am excited to continue working with clients. Being able to make someone happy with the space they live or work in is a dream come true. If you or someone you know wants to get more organized, reach out to me.
